โรคหัวใจและหลอดเลือด (Cardiovascular Diseases: CVDs) เป็นสาเหตุสำคัญของการเสียชีวิตทั่วโลก โดยคร่าชีวิตผู้คนไปประมาณ 17.9 ล้านคนในแต่ละปี (ประมาณ 32% ของสาเหตุการเสียชีวิตทั่วโลก) นอกจากนั้น 1 ใน 3 ของการเสียชีวิตจากโรคนี้เกิดขึ้นก่อนวัยอันควร (อายุต่ำกว่า 70 ปี) สำหรับในประเทศไทย อัตราการเสียชีวิตด้วยโรคหัวใจขาดเลือดในช่วงปี 2563 อยู่ที่ 21,309 คน และมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มสูงขึ้นทุกปี ในขณะที่จำนวนแพทย์ก็ยังไม่เพียงพอต่อการดูแลผู้ป่วย ซึ่งจากสถิติของสำนักงานสถิติแห่งชาติระบุว่า ในปีพ.ศ. 2564 มีสัดส่วน
